Eyelid Lift

Eyelid Lift:

Blepharoplasty

Through eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, the upper eyelids may be lifted to remove sagging, and the lower eyelids may be tightened to remove nearby bags and wrinkles. Vision impairment caused by sagging of the upper eyelid skin also can be resolved through eyelid surgery. Although blepharoplasty can improve the appearance of saggy lids or puffy bags, the procedure will not remove crow’s feet on the sides of the eyes or dark circles beneath. Request a consultation at our practice to learn how eyelid surgery can help you look your very best.

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty

An upper lid blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove the excess redundant skin to address the droopy appearance of the eyelids. The incisions are placed in the natural crease so as not to change or distort the natural appearance of the eye and keeping the scars minimally perceptible. This procedure may be considered cosmetic to improve and rejuvenate the appearance of the upper lid or can be considered medically necessary if vision is compromised due to the heaviness of the excess skin laxity.

Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

Concerns regarding the appearance of the lower eyelid can vary from person to person. Whether due to signs of aging or a hereditary predisposition, the lower eyelid blepharoplasty is designed to address the excess skin laxity, the puffiness secondary to excess fat protrusion, the appearance of dark circles and hollowness around the lower lid or a combination of any of theabove. Depending on the area of concern, the incision may be placed either inside the eyelid with no visible external scar or just beneath the lash line.

Considerations

A blepharoplasty alone may not be the solution to address the signs of aging or tired appearance of the eyes. The heaviness or drooping of the brow may contribute to the tired or angry appearance and eyelid surgery alone will not address brow position. Furthermore, eyelid surgery will not address the fine lines or textural qualities of the lid skin, including the crowsfeet area. Other adjunctive procedures such as a brow lift (endoscopic, temporal or direct), skin resurfacing (Renuvion skin resurfacing, Portrait plasma), non-invasive skin tightening such as TempSure Envi, and or even the use of neuromodulators such as Botox may need to be considered to achieve optimal results.
